Malaysia based, Malindo Air flight #OD178 turned the wrong way after taking off from Melbourne airport, Australia on 26 Sept,2018.

Flight OD178 bound for Denpasar, Indonesia, took off from Melbourne Airport’s Runway 34 at 07:13 AEST and turned to the left instead of heading straight.

When the air traffic controller asked the pilot about his actions, he responded that he thought they were on a different runway.

Civil Air Australia president Tom McRobert told The Australian the action was ‘extraordinarily unsafe’…’It meant as they left the runway they veered hard left, which came as a surprise to air traffic control,’ …’It was just completely unexpected,’ he added.
