Japan’s Kansai International Airport is closed its two runways today from 11:00 am and will remain closed until 6:00 am Monday as a powerful typhoon approaches the western Japan region.
The airport’s operator said all takeoffs and landings are on hold and Japan Airlines canceled 58 flights affecting 8,250 passengers as of 4 p.m. local time Saturday and suspended 61 flights on Sunday.
ANA halted 124 domestic flights at Okinawa airports on Saturday and cancelled 99 domestic and two international flights on Sunday.
Kansai Airport, which lies on an artificial island, which is connected by a bridge with a main land.
