More than 5,500 flights were cancelled across the world due to super Typhoon Mangkhut slicing through China after smashing Phillipines and Hong Kong.

Nearly 4,000 asia-pacific flights including China Eastern Airlines, Air China, Cathay Pacific and Hong Kong Airlines were cancelled on 16 September.
