Japan Kansai Airport remain closed following a super typhoon Jebi flooded the runways and terminal building basement.

A day after a powerful typhoon, some 3,000 passengers stranded at Kansai International Airport were being evacuated by boat or other transportation on Wednesday.

More than 5000 people including 2000 staff spent the night at the Japan’s third-busiest airport after the Bridge connecting the airport with mainland was damaged by a tanker, that was ripped from its mooring by the strong winds and high waves and smashed onto the bridge.

The airport built on a manmade island in Osaka Bay and used by 80,000 passengers a day.
