“Jet Airways B-737 attempted takeoff from Taxiway” – Aviation Investigation Bureau of Saudi Arabia

“Jet Airways Boeing 737-800 that suffered a runway excursion at Riyadh Airport was attempting takeoff from a taxiway” Aviation Investigation Bureau of Saudi Arabia said in an updated press release.

According to press released, Jet Airways B-737 flight JA1523 heading to Mumbai with 141 passengers and crew overshoot taxiway at KKIA on Friday 3 August 2018. The aircraft attempted takeoff from taxiway (K), parallel to designated takeoff runway R33. The aircraft accelerated will full takeoff power and exceeded the taxiway onto unpaved area ending close to the exit of taxiway G4 north of taxiway.
The visibility was high and obstacles or FOD on the taxiway.

In response, Jet Always said in a statement ” Jet Always is in contact with (India) DGCA, and will extend full co-operation regards to said incident…”
