British Airways said that they will be cancelling a dozen flights on London-Abu Dhabi route due to problems with Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engines on its Boeing 787s.

The cancellation will be for three weeks starting from May 16 to June 6. British Airways is wet leasing three A330s from Qatar Airways to replace 787s, but due to airspace restriction by UAE for Qatar airways aircraft British Airways cancelled direct flights and offering alternate routes via Bahrain, connecting flight with Etihad to Abu Dhabi.

The 787s with Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engines are undergoing unexpected maintenance and FAA recommended last week that 787s should stay within one hour of an airport.
